I’m Dale Warburton, and my path has been shaped by an unlikely mix of education and work experiences that I’ve fortunate enough to explore. I studied Political Philosophy (BA), Law (LLB), Real Estate (MSc), and earned a diploma in financial services (FG146), which together gave me a solid grounding in law, finance, and how markets work.
My career started as a solicitor, before I spent a decade in commercial real estate, learning the ins and outs of investments. Later, I shifted into crypto media, working as Managing Editor for a few well-known crypto publications. That role was an eye-opener, showing me the messy realities of how the crypto industry operates.
In 2020, the unprecedented fiscal and monetary responses to global events drew me to Bitcoin. As a South African, I felt uniquely equipped to appreciate the power of sound, borderless money — a currency that transcends the limitations of traditional financial systems. I saw Bitcoin not just as the fastest horse in the race, but as capital with wings, offering unparalleled freedom and potential.
My early experience in the broader crypto industry opened my eyes to its flaws — insiders exploiting asymmetrical information and regulatory arbitrage through deceptive marketing. This only further cemented my belief in Bitcoin’s unique value as a decentralised, transparent system.
Today, I dedicate my time to educating others about Bitcoin’s transformative potential. In 2023, I launched The Why Bitcoin Show, a podcast where I explore why Bitcoin matters, and I dive into all sorts of topics from on-chain analysis through to geopolitics and macroeconomic trends.
Hosting the show and speaking at various Bitcoin conferences has been a privilege, allowing me to learn from thought leaders and engage in meaningful discussions with people from all walks of life.
As Managing Mentor at Bitcoin Mentor Australia, I now focus on helping individuals achieve financial sovereignty through secure Bitcoin self-custody.
Given my non-technical background, I’ve learnt Bitcoin from first principles and one of my talents, I believe, is that I’m capable of explaining complex issues in a way that resonates with ordinary people.
